Newpaper articles about USS Litchfield County (LST-901) and its crew
Articles/photographs pertinent to a visit aboard USS Litchfield County (LST-901)
by Admiral David L. McDonald, USN, Chief of Naval Operations

Unfortunately, age has taken its toll on the quality of this article; and, this is the best reproduction the web master could provide.
In this article, which is an interview with Admiral McDonald, he specifically mentions the LITCHFIELD COUNTY. In the paragraph that begins immediately above his photo in the right hand column, and the following paragraph, it states:
He also had this to say: "I was tremendously heartened by the crews of ships out there. For instance, I went aboard an LST...the LITCHFIELD COUNTY.
The captain is a young lieutenant and his senior enlisted man was a 1st class PO - not even a chief on board - and I was overwhelmed by what I saw on the ship. It was one of the cleanest, finest ships I have been on."
