USS Litchfield County (LST-901)
AWARDS EARNED BY THE SHIP AND ITS CREW

COMBAT ACTION RIBBON
Any person who served aboard the ship on 24 FEB 1968, or thereafter, earned this award and is eligible to display it if during their service aboard ship the enemy was engaged.  This would include the ship receiving enemy fire or the ship firing upon the enemy.

NAVY UNIT COMMENDATION RIBBON
This Military Unit Award is for Unit heroism which was considered outstanding when compared to other units or organizations performing similar service.  USS Litchfield County (LST - 901) received this award for service from 11 JUL 1968 - 11 AUG 1968.  Any person serving aboard the ship at any time during this period is eligible to display this ribbon.  


NAVY MERITORIOUS UNIT COMMENDATION RIBBON
This Military Unit Award is for “Exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service, heroic deeds, or valorous actions.” USS Litchfield County (LST - 901) received this award for service during the period 01 JUL 1966 - 31 MAR 1968.


NAVY "E" RIBBON
The Navy "E" Ribbon replaces the Navy "E" Patch previously awarded.  The "E" patch was earned by USS Litchfield County (LST-901) in 1967. The exact dates of service this award pertains to are being investigated.   Any person serving aboard the ship during this period is eligible to display the award.


AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL RIBBON
This campaign medal is awarded to any member of the armed forces who served in the American theater area during the period 07 DEC 1941 - 02 MAR 1946.


ASIATIC PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL - WWII RIBBON
This campaign medal is awarded to any member of the armed forces who served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater area during the period 07 DEC 1941 - 02 MAR 1946.


WORLD WAR II VICTORY MEDAL RIBBON
This medal is awarded to any member of the armed forces who served at any time during the period 07 DEC 1941 - 31 DEC 1946.


WORLD WAR II OCCUPATION SERVICE MEDAL RIBBON
LST-901 earned this medal for participation in the Asian occupation forces following the close of WWII. If displayed, it should include the “Asia” clasp.


NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL RIBBON (2)
USS Litchfield County (LST - 901) and all members of the United States military during qualifying periods of national emergency earned this medal.

REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM CIVIL ACTION PALM UNIT CITATION RIBBON
This unit award was presented to all members of a military command who had participated in civic actions with such a degree that would normally warrant the presentation of the  Vietnam Civil Actions Medal.  In the United States armed forces, the Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation was most often awarded to units of the U.S. Marine Corps.  The dates for which this award was earned are being investigated.

UNITED NATIONS KOREAN SERVICE MEDAL RIBBON
This award was earned by all military service members of allied forces who participated in the defense of Korea from North Korean aggression during the period  27 JUN 1950 - 27 JUL 1954.  Any person serving aboard LST-901 during this period is eligible to display this award.

REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM CAMPAIGN MEDAL RIBBON
USS Litchfield County (LST-901) earned this award during its time of service in Vietnam.  Any individual who completed at least six months of duty in South Vietnam aboard this ship is also eligible to display this award.

REPUBLIC OF KOREA WAR SERVICE MEDAL RIBBON
LST-901 earned this award for service during the period 30 NOV 1951 - 27 JUL 1954.  Any person  who was aboard LST-901 during this period of time is eligible to display this award provided their service included time spent in waters adjacent to Korea.
